Actress Dionne Monsanto-Stalder tweeted on Tuesday, April 12–the injustice Filipinos had to undergo during tax season.
The scenario left Monsanto-Stalderflabbergasted due to a politician who has yet to pay a whopping P203 billion in estate taxes, but ordinary Filipinos scramble to file their taxes on time.
“Nakakaloka yung panahon na naman ng pagfile ng tax, at tayong regular taxpayers ngarag sa pagfile on time. Samantalang yung iba jan, ang rangya ng buhay, pero may 203B estate tax na ilang dekada nang ayaw bayaran. Shuta,” she wrote.

She referred to none other than presidential aspirant Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr and his family.
The actress also ridiculed Marcos’s loyalists for spreading fake news.

According to retired Justice Antonio Carpio, Marcos Jr being the heir of the late Ferdinand Marcos Sr. is liable to pay the estate tax.
He even cited Section 91(D) of the Tax Code, stating that: “The estate tax imposed by Section 84 shall be paid by the executor or administrator before delivery to any beneficiary of his distributive share of the estate.”
Carpio further argued that under Revenue Regulations Nos. 12-2018 and 17-1993 implementing Section 91 (D) of the Tax Code: “The estate tax imposed under the NIRC shall be paid by the executor or administrator before the delivery of the distributive share in the inheritance to any heir or beneficiary.
“Where there are two or more executors or administrators, all of them are severally liable for the payment of the tax. Xxx the executor or administrator of an estate has the primary obligation to pay the estate tax, but the heir or beneficiary has subsidiary liability for the payment of that portion of the estate which his distributive share bears to the value of the total net estate.”
“Clearly, the Tax Code and its implementing regulations impose upon the co-administrators of the Marcos Estate the primary obligation to pay the estate tax, and the subsidiary obligation to pay the estate tax falls on all the heirs in proportion to their distributive share in the estate,” he pointed out.
On the other hand, two government agencies have confirmed that they are trying to collect tax from the Marcoses.
Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) chief Caesar Dulay said, “The BIR did send a written demand to the Marcos heirs on December 2, 2021, regarding their tax liabilities.”
It was a snippet from a letter sent to presidential bet Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso’s Aksyon Demokratiko party which was shown to the media on Wednesday, March 16.
Both the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) and BIR also sent letters to the Marcoses ordering them to pay the taxes.
PCGG also revealed that “the judgment on the case had become final and executory.”
BIR even confirmed that the latest demand letter was in December 2021.
