On April 13, Miss Universe Philippines national director Shamcey Supsup-Lee teased beauty pageant fans about the big plans for MUP 2022.
During the launch of The Universe Collection at Sofitel Manila, Shamcey recalled the challenges their organization faced amid the pandemic.
“This year is really exciting. It’s our third year. For the past two years, we were under a pandemic, and so we were very limited with all of our activities. But God willing, this year, everything goes to plan. We’ve been planning this for the past two years.Â
“We wanted it to be a big event where the fans could enjoy and watch and witness the biggest national pageant in the Philippines.”
She also teased some pageant events fans should look out for in the coming Miss Universe Philippines 2022.
“And finally, now we get to invite a lot of guests, our Miss Universe Winners, and it’s an honor that they’re here to support Miss Universe Philippines. I know a lot of pageant fans are looking forward to meet Harnaaz Sandhu, so there’s a lot more in store for everybody who’s been supporting Miss Universe Philippines.”
Filipino Designer Francis Libiran and Miss Universe Philippines through Beatrice Luigi Gomez partnered with Sofitel to mount the Universe Collection to showcase gowns used in the 70th Miss Universe pageant.
Shamcey also felt honored to work with Libiran in providing elegant gowns for their Miss Universe representatives.
“It’s been more than a decade we’ve been working with Francis–Francis actually did my wedding gown. So, I think you could say that the relationship is much more than just a client and a designer it’s really more of friendship.Â
“I’m so happy that after all these years, we still get to work with Francis. And now, as the national director, to have him design clothes for our representative for Miss Universe, talagang, it’s a big honor to be working with Francis.”
Pageant fans can visit Sofitel Manila to view the Universe Collection exhibit until May 2022.Â
