Tahan screenwriter and cast member Quinn Carrillo on Monday, April 4, revealed that some of the scenes in the movie were based on a real-life experience of her friend.
“Basta may kilala ako. I can’t disclose who, may kilala ako na ganito yung nangyari sa kanya. Not specifically the whole story pero some part of it na ganoong kamurang edad nabenta pa,” shared Carrillo during the film’s press conference.
She said a mixture of fact and fiction that Tahan is her way of spreading awareness that human trafficking is real.
“So yun talaga tumatak sa isip ko sabi ko gusto ko talagang malaman ng tao na maraming ganito na dapat bigyan natin ng pansin yung mga ganitong tao.”
Meanwhile, as the screenwriter for Tahan, Carrillo stressed that it might be arrogant for her to play the lead role. The job was given to sexy star Cloe Baretto alongside JC Santos and Jaclyn Jose.
“Ayoko. Kasi ako ang nagsulat parang ang vain naman na parang ako pa ang bibida. I want to see the character from my eyes, hindi ako as is. Gusto kong mabigyan siya ng buhay ng ibang tao,” she explained.
Even if in another project, she emphasized that it was not for her.
“Parang di ko kaya. Parang ayoko eh. Parang ayoko na ako.”
Tahan is an indie movie directed by Bobby Florencio Jr. and produced by first-time producer John Bryan Diamante. It also includes Karl Medina, AJ Oteyza, Mac Cardona, Mercedes Cabral, EJ Salamante, Joseph San Jose, and Stiff Banzon.
