Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach got back at a basher who claimed that she and her ‘team’ initiated the backlash that Catriona Gray is receiving.
In an Instagram post on April 1, one netizen with the username @kingeugine slammed Pia for attacking Catriona.
“I think pia and her team are attacking @catriona_gray behind hmmm that makes me realize na sobrang galing ng performance ni @gutierrezary hmm i think she deserve the blue crown,” the netizen claimed.
Pia then denied the claims and said that she does not have a team to degrade others and that she does not want to have any misunderstandings with anyone.
“May tanong ako, bakit pag ganito laging AKO unang nyong naiisip na pasimuno? Bakit ako?
“Hi Eugine. Wala po akong ‘team.’ Glam team siguro meron. Personal na team ko that handles my schedules & anything business related, meron.
“Pero wala akong ”team’ or attack dogs tulad ng iniinsinuate mo. At along wala akong intention ever na mang ‘attack’ ng ibang tao.
“Usually I just ignore messages like this kasi di naman totoo but years na ito paulit ulit nalang. And if other people are not gonna defend you or speak on your behalf, you have to speak up and defend yourself.
“I dont know why people really believe that I have a ‘team’ and that I actually aim to attack and tear other people down. Saan galing ito?
“I always try my best to be good with everyone. I never want to have beef with anyone. That makes me so uncomfortable.
“Im just not that type of person and Im a big believer in karma. At kahit sa mga taong ayaw sakin, hindi ako gumaganti or nang ‘attack’ tulad ng sinasabi mo.
“Lagi lang akong tahimik,” said Pia.
She then said that people should stop assuming that women in pageantry are at war with each other. Instead, they should celebrate women and their thriving careers.
“I get messages like these all the time. And honestly nakakapagod na. Why cant we just celebrate ALL WOMEN? ALL Queens? Bakit kailangan may ‘team’ nila, ‘team’ ko?
“Walang away away dito or hidden agendas. Sa sarili ko sigurado ako na wala. Masaya lang ako at very grateful na nagagawa ko parin lahat ng ito years after,” she said.
Pia then explained that she just wants to enjoy her life after her pageant career. She said that she is genuinely happy about the success of her fellow queens.
“Ako, honestly I just wanna have fun, meet people I can collaborate with in business and advocacies, do the work that I need to do and live my life!
“And I’m really genuinely happy that were all thriving in our careers. Lahat ng PH queens may ganap. Like look around, ang saya diba? Lahat busy!
“Sana maging masaya ka narin at tanggaling mo na yang pait sa puso mo. The pageant world has become toxic enough, do you really want to add to that?
“You have the power to choose what kind of Queen you want to be, Eugine,” she said.
Pia Wurtzbach won the Miss Universe crown back in 2015. Her victory got dubbed as ‘most-popular Miss Universe’ when she was mistakenly announced as the first runner-up in the pageant and later announced as Miss Universe 2015. Catriona Gray is the fourth Miss Universe of the Philippines and got crowned in 2018.
