A conversation with a Showtime SexyBabe candidate led Vice Ganda to enumerate different kinds of ghosts.
Known for his wit and humor, Vice Ganda can certainly navigate what seems to be a plain and boring conversation and turn it into something interesting and hilarious. On It’s Showtime on April 25, Vice Ganda and his fellow hosts Vhong Navarro and Ogie Alcasid were having chitchat with SexyBabe contestant Loria Mae Ramos, who shared that she suffered an injury before going to the competition. Ramos told the hosts that she had an accident at the gym when she fell off a speeding treadmill.
“Baka may multo sa gym (Maybe there’s a ghost a the gym),” wondered Vice Ganda.
“Paano mo malalaman kung may muto sa gym (How do you know if there’s a ghost at the gym)?” asked Vhong Navarro, to which Vice Ganda replied with “Eh di itanong mo: may muto ba (Just ask the ghost directly)?”
“Kasi may mga bagay na inaakala natin na alam natin, pero hindi mo naman talaga alam at naiintindihan. Kaya dapat nagtatanong (Because there are things that we claim we claim to know, when in fact we don’t. That’s why it is necessary to ask),” he then clarified.
Vhong Navarro wondered what would the contestant do if she finds out that a ghost exists at the gym.
“Pag may multo ba sa gym, magpapa-spot ka ba (If you found there was a ghost at the gym, will you sign up for a spot training?)” Navarro asked.
“Depende kung magkano ang spotting nya per hour. Kasi may mga multong naniningil din… (It depends to his spotting rate per hour. Because as you may not know, there are ghosts who actually ask for payment),” answered Vice Ganda.
“Ah may multa! May multa ang multo! (Oh, there’s a fine. The ghost asks for fine)!” exclaimed Ogie Alcasid after figuring out a witty banter, which Vice Ganda promptly acknowledged.
“May mga multo ngang may suweldo eh… sa city hall andaming multo na may suweldo (There are even ghosts who receive salary… especially those at city halls),” noted Vice Ganda, who was referring to ghost employees which many local governments are accused of using, to siphon money from the public coffers.
“At may mga multong nakakaboto…patay na nakakaboto pa. Meron din ngang multo na nakakakuha pa ng ayuda (There are also ghost who can still vote… people who are already dead, but can still cast a vote. There are ghosts who claim relief aid, too)” the comedian-host added, which is another swipe at politicians who use constituents who are already dead, for their personal and political gain.
This is not the first time Vice Ganda used the show and different hilarious real-life situations to convey relevant socio-political messages to It’s Showtime viewers. With the May 9 polls already around the corner, it is not a surprise that most of his banter or comic acts on the show will be dealing with politics and social issues.
