On April 13, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila’s General Manager Olivier Larcher predicted a strong rebound for social events after the pandemic.
During the launch of The Universe Collection at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, Larcher said the pandemic deprived people of social events.
“Well, I think there is a strong rebound about to come. And we’ve been deprived for two years actually, of weddings, of anniversaries, of celebrations and now we are really looking forward to having these social events.”
He also highlighted how humans are social animals and have to be face-to-face during significant milestones in life.
“I believe we all are social animals, and we cannot get married on MS Teams, Zoom, or any kind of platform. We have to get together, we have to be beautiful, and we have to take photos together and get memories.”
Larcher also stated that Sofitel is expecting a surge of wedding events in the coming months.
“We are expecting a very strong surge in weddings. We have the best wedding ballroom in town. We have the best facility–the sea wall, for the celebration of ceremonies. We’ve been in this business for 45 years, and we want to be in the business for another 45 years. So we want to be back in the wedding celebration.”
Filipino Designer Francis Libiran and Miss Universe Philippines through Beatrice Luigi Gomez partnered with Sofitel to mount the Universe Collection to showcase gowns used in the 70th Miss Universe pageant.
Larcher expressed thrill and delight over working with Libiran and Gomez on the exhibit.
“We are really thrilled and delighted to work with the best fashion designer in the Philippines and one of the best in the world. For us it’s an absolute honor. We are really looking forward to a stronger collaboration. We are actually extremely delighted to work with such a talent.”
Pageant fans can visit Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila to view the Universe Collection exhibit until May 2022.
