The all-female P-POP group recently released their 7th single and own version of the AKB48 track, No Way Man.
MNL48 recaptured the spotlight with an energetic new PPOP anthem, whose words reflect their ideals as a pioneering idol group. Filled with vibrance and a a contagiously zesty vibe, ‘No Way Man’ is a perfect track for determined and persevering dream chasers. The track is the local version of the single popularized by the group’s sister Japanese group, AKB48. It is MNL48’s comeback track after not releasing a new single for at least a year.
Like its parent, Japanese track–MNL48’s No Way Man, is dominated by intense bass and drum sounds, synth rhythms and melodies, and an overall upbeat, danceable vibe.
The track is perfect to showcase the girls’ vocal and dance skills. It is also an appropriate anthem for the group, which has continually ascended in its career as among the pioneering PPOP idols, despite the arrival of a dozen or more new groups.
As a music video, No Way Man–is reminiscent of the group’s past singles: vibrant, bright, and filled with ecstatic colors.
It utilized ABS-CBN’s scenic rooftop for its beautifully-staged helipad scene, with the looming skyscrapers of Quezon City serving as a majestic backdrop as the girls jived along their high-spirited track. As the group’s new overall captain, Sheki Arzaga owned some of the spotlights of the music video.
True to the group’s signature sound–No Way Man maintained a sense of conviction and call. All thanks to its rousing lyrics and the melodic vocals that the girls rendered to make it work. Big props to the stellar dance choreography, although one can sense that this particular single seemingly aimed at showcasing the group members’ visual styles, hence the aesthetic solo shots of each member.
