On April 4, actress Mickey Ferriols admitted she was an anti-vaxxer but getting COVID-19 changed her mind at a media conference for her upcoming movie, Dok.
Ferriols said, “Kasi-anti vaxxer ako to begin with, yeah. I was an anti-vaxxer and then naririnig ko ‘yung mga stories ni Attorney, na naku I got vaccinated talaga.”
She then recalled getting sick and having the symptoms of Omicron.
“Parang siyang brain fog, tapos parang masakit ‘yung ulo, tapos fever, pero thankfully, three days lang ako may sakit. So binantayan ko lang ng Paracetamol, round the clock. Tapos ganon-ganon, sponge bath. Thank God, gumaling naman.”
Ferriols then shared her message to anti-vaxxers who remained against getting inoculated.
“I think it is our civil duty as citizens of this world to get vaccinated. Proteksyon mo na ‘yan sa sarili mo, at proteksyon na rin ng iba para sa kanila. So parang nagpro-protektahan tayo. So get out and siguro get vaccinated talaga.”
As for their movie, Ferriols expressed feeling proud of being a part of a Pinoy movie that talks about COVID.
“Siyempre nakaka-proud. Parang ang sarap. It feels like it’s such an honor kasi ang alam ko ito yata ‘yung first movie that tackles kung ano ‘yung COVID-19 from the first hand experience of the producer, of the screenwriter, and the director. Kino-coach niya kami.”
She then shared her thoughts on portraying the role of a COVID-19 patient in the movie.
“Di na siya makahinga, wala ka ring panlasa Attorney noh? She went through na ilang days na walang kasama, walang kausap, walang toothbrush, walang ligo.
“Hindi totoo ‘yun, it’s a reality. Imagine ikaw bilang isang human being, nasa isang isolated lugar ka. You’re isolated from everyone else, you cannot stand up. Lying down, she can’t lie down. There’s a certain position na kaya lang niya. Hindi pwede ‘yung, ‘Ah okay relaxed ako.’ May certain position lang, na ito dito lang ako nakakahinga.”
Mickey Ferriols stars in the upcoming movie Dok alongside Enzo Pineda, Rob Sy, LM Mercado, Aryan Akhtar, Potchi Angeles, and Maria de Ramos.
Atty. Maria Angelica De Ramos wrote, produced, and directed Dok, and it premieres on April 6, 2022, in cinemas.
