Former Miss Universe 1973 and current Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Chairperson Margie Moran has denied endorsing the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, April 21, Moran belied a Facebook post as fake news, which tagged her alongside Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach and Miss Universe 2018 as former Pinay Miss Universe queens who endorsed VP Leni for President.
In the post, Margie said she would never compromise her government position to endorse a candidate for the 2022 Presidential elections.
“This post is fake news. I will not compromise my position as a government official by endorsing a candidate. My choice is who I think will serve the nation best.”

Under Section 55 of the Administrative Code of 1987 and R.A 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991, all civil service employees are banned from directly or indirectly engaging in partisan political activity except to vote.
Meanwhile, both Pia and Catriona have publicly endorsed the candidacy of Vice President Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.
In an Instagram post on April 13, after she voted in UAE, Pia proudly said that she has voted for VP Leni as the next President because she believes in her capabilities as a woman leader.
“Today, I am even prouder to have voted for Leni to be our next President. I’m sharing this with you dahil naniniwala ako sa kakayahan ng isang babae. Naniniwala ako at naninindigan ako para kay Leni.”

On the other hand, Catriona made a Youtube video that premiered on April 18 explaining her reasons for choosing the Leni and Kiko tandem.
“A long-serving public servant, effective legislator authoring 79 laws, and active advocate for the agricultural sector, education, and national welfare, my vote for vice president is Kiko Pangilinan.
“And my choice for president is Leni Robredo. She is the only candidate with the experience in all three branches of the government…. I believe one of the most competent responses during the global pandemic was under the stewardship of her Office of the Vice President.
“Above all else, of all the candidates, she’s the only one who gives me hope for change for the future that I wish to see for my country.”
