Basketball-turned-actor Mac Cardona, on Monday, April 4, considered the actions of Kit Thompson against girlfriend Ana Jalandoni as “an overexpression of love.”
“Well, talagang ang pagmamahal po talaga, kapag sobra mong mahal mo ang isang tao, medyo kapag grumabe doon, mapu-push mo ang sarili mo na makikita na maghihiwalay kayo or may pinag-aawayan kayo or may nakita kayo. Hindi ko alam kung ano talaga ang totoo sa ngayon,” said Cardona during the Tahan movie conference that he is part of.
He also believes that a relationship involving physical altercations is “toxic.”
It can be recalled that Jalandoni filed criminal charges against Thompson after being assaulted. The former suffered injuries, including a swollen eye which, according to her doctor, temporarily caused partial blindness.
In 2018, Cardona was arrested for allegedly injuring his live-in partner, Bianca Nicole Jackes, with a bladed weapon.
Currently, he still has pending charges against him, but he clarified that everything is already smoothed out.
Sharing his take on the recent issue, the former PBA player, which coincidentally had the same experience, said that Jalandoni’s experience has a “reason.”
In the meantime, Cardona, now 40 years old, has set his mind on becoming an actor, stressing that his career as an athlete has ended and it is his time to try entering showbusiness.
Cardona added that after receiving an offer from filmmaker Bobby Bonifacio Jr., to be one of the cast members of Tahan, he immediately grabbed it.
It is his fallback now that his career as an athlete is over.
Starting out in his newfound career, Cardona said that he is determined to showcase his passion for acting.
The sexy-thriller Tahan stars Jaclyn Jose, JC Santos, and up-and-coming young artist Cloe Barretto. It is under 360 Films produced by Bryan Dy and Lyn Carillo.
