The Kapamilya actress and host appeared for the first time at a Leni-Kiko rally on April 21.
It’s Showtime host Kim Chiu returned to her home province yesterday, to officially endorse Vice President Leni Robredo as President to her fellow Cebuanos.
In 2016 national elections, Robredo won the province by a 500k margin over her current opponent, Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., who has now the backing of the incumbent Governor and the province’s biggest political party, One Cebu.
Chiu’s appearance in CEBOOM!, the second people’s rally held by the Leni-Kiko tandem in the vote-rich province, came just two days after she celebrated her birthday. She received a special birthday greeting from her presidential bet, whom she promised to join in her campaign. Chiu fulfilled that promise yesterday, in front of no less than 150,000 people.
During her time on the stage, Chiu articulated in her local language, why it is Robredo whom the Cebuanos should vote for. She made mention of the female leaders around the world, who were highly lauded for their pandemic efforts. She likened Robredo to them, and said, that the lone female presidentiable, too, has that maternal instinct, that the Filipino people need from a national leader. She said she is fine with getting bashed because she stood up for what was right.
The deafening response from the crowd when she went up the stage seemed to suggest how important Chiu’s presence at the event was. On twitter, netizens lauded her and her inspiring words.
Mave, a certified Kimmy fan, has these words to say “I’m crying Kim Chiu basically saying it’s ok if she gets bashed because she’s standing up for what is right. But if you stand up for something wrong, then that’s gonna hurt. The wisdom of this woman! I am a proud fan! “

“bugbog na si kim chiu sa bashing & haters. this woman has always been consistently listening & learning each time na may issue siya. you can never put an empowered & capable woman down (Kim Chiu has been badly beaten by bashings, but she has always been a consistent listener and learner), he tweeted.
Little Red Shoes noted the massive response Chiu got when she started engaging the crowd. “Wow! What a response from the crowd! Power of @prinsesachinita,” her tweet reads.
