The announcement came nine months after Toni Gonzaga’s selection as the lead actress of the upcoming New York-set film–Asian Persuasions.
KC Concepcion, Sharon Cuneta’s daughter with Gabby Concepcion, is set to headline the upcoming New York-set international film, Asian Persuasions. The news was confirmed on April 13, via a Variety report.
On her Instagram post, Concepcion confirmed the news with a screenshot of the said article. She shared with her fans that it has been three days since they started filming the movie.
“Grateful to be part of this Asian-American project, with our amazing cast and crew,” she wrote in her caption.
Actress-TV host-turned vlogger and former Pinoy Big Brother host, Toni Gonzaga, was previously announced to take on Concepcion’s role.
Gonzaga, who has been actively campaigning for the former dictator’s son and presidentiable Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., has reportedly departed from the project due to schedule conflicts.
Concepcion stars as the lead actress. She will co-star with Filipino-American Hollywood actor Dante Basco. Also part of the Asian-dominated cast are Paolo Montalban, Scarlet Sherr, Geneva Carr, Jax Bacani, Tony Labrusca, Kevin Kreider, Yam Concepcion, Apl. de Ap, Rachel Alejandro, Imani Hanson, and Celia Au.
Tony and Grammy Award-winning producer Jhett Tolentino who already had 19 Broadway productions, will helm the project. Among his film production credits are award-winning films–Lingua Franca (2017), Life Is What You Make It (2017), and Confessions (2018).
Asian Persuasions serves as his film directorial debut.
The film tells the story of Mickey, a divorced chef who tries to re-marry his fashion designer ex-wife, Avery (Concepcion) to escape alimony obligations. He enlists the help of a trusted friend to win her ex-wife back, but he soon realized it’s her love that he truly wants back. Life is You Make It executive producer, Mike Ang, wrote the screenplay.
The film is slated to be released in 2023. Jhett Tolentino’s production studio takes charge of the overall production.
