Through a facebook comment on Monday, April 18, Jona [Viray] reminded fans to stop fighting over their preferred candidates for the May 2022 elections.
She previously declared her support for the tandem of presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo and vice-presidential aspirant Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.
She posted a video of her performance for the Pampanga rally of Robredo and Pangilinan. The video earned mixed reactions from the netizens.
“Wag po tayo mag-away-away at magbastusan,” Viray wrote in the comment section of her post.
The singer said that people must learn to respect individual views. She also encouraged everyone to support their candidates instead of spreading hate.
“We may have different views, but let us still exercise respect to each other here while expressing our opinions. Ipagmalaki na lang po natin ano yung nagawa, at yung mga platapormang isinusulong ng ating mga napiling susuportahan,” she added.
On why she chose Robredo as her presidential bet, the singer explained, “Mahusay, masipag, matapang, humaharap sa mga pagsubok, may malinaw at konkretong plano, at ang pinakamahalaga sa lahat, may puso— tapat, transparent at walang bahid ng korapsiyon at katiwalian, na pinakita niya sa atin for the past 6 years bilang bise president.
“Noong mga nakaraang taon sobra tayong nagagalit kapag may mga issue ng corruption, mismanage ng funds ng ilang mga government agencies and officials, injustices lalo na sa mga mahihirap, mga inactions, at walang konkrentong plano sa pagtugon sa pandemya.”
This was the first time Viray performed in public to show her support for Robredo and Pangilinan.
She will be a first-time voter in the May 2022 elections.
