The six-year-old Kapamilya action drama is unstoppable as it continues to break records online.
The intense encounter between Task Force Agila and Black Ops is undeniably a huge hit for Kapamilya viewers, as the April 8 episode (titled ‘Countdown’) of the top-rating primetime series set a new concurrent viewership record. The last time the show set a record on Kapamilya Online Live was on February 3, 2022, when the Coco Martin-starrer attracted more than 172,000 live viewers. That record is now obsolete as the ‘Countdown’ episode last night peaked at more than 180,000 viewers, the highest [spo far] achieved by any series streaming on YouTube. It is a milestone no other local series has ever achieved on the platform.
The Countdown episode marks the much-anticipated encounter between Cardo Dalisay’s group and the combined force of the elite police group, Black Ops, and Lito Valmoria’s (Richard Gutierrez) cabal of armed men. In the said episode, Cardo Dalisay and his group were on a mission to take down the fake president Oscar Hidalgo (Rowell Santiago), whom Dalisay mistook for the real one, who was also present during the encounter. The episode also featured Armando’s (John Estrada) attempt to assassinate Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel), the father of Aurora (Sharon Cuneta), who also got caught in the crossfire between the warring groups.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano remains as ABS-CBN’s highest rated series, according to AGB Nielsen National Urban TV Measurement (NUTAM) data. Based on the April 6, 2022 data from AGB, the show rated 11.7%, enough to become the second most-watched TV series on local television. First Lady, the current number one series–rated 14.4%, or just 2.7% higher than FPJAP. However, it is interesting that ABS-CBN still has limited reach on free TV television, which makes the Kapamilya show’s already high TV rating–is an extraordinary feat.
The ‘Countdown’ episode left the viewers hanging, with Cardo Dalisay trying to beat the odds by holding the fake Oscar Hidalgo hostage. The episodes next week will see whether Black Ops can finally bring Dalisay and his team to a fold, or he will manage to work his way out and escape the authorities once again, as many viewers probably expect.
