Finally, the Kapamilya action-drama FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano clinched the most-coveted top spot after [more than] two months of going head-to-head with the popular Kapuso series, The First Lady.
The two most-watched television shows on local television are practically tied in the first place.
It is interesting to note that no matter how slim its lead over the second placer was FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has the biggest reason to celebrate its feat. The show finally emerged as the number one TV drama in the country for the first time in nearly three months on Friday, April 22.
The last time the show held the top spot was way back in February when it reigned supreme over then concluding I Left My Heart in Sorsogon. First Lady, the sequel to the 2021 series, First Yaya, replaced the Kapuso series in its time slot on February 14.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano has been relegated to second place since. But now, after two months of a seesaw battle in ratings, the Kapamilya series finally reclaimed the number one spot, despite a very slim margin.
According to AGB Nielsen’s National Urban TV Measurement (NUTAM) data on April 22, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano overcame GMA Network’s First Lady by 0.1%, as the two shows registered 12.2% and 12.1%, respectively.
In terms of national coverage, First Lady is accessible to more free TV viewers versus the ABS-CBN’s drama, thereby making this victory even more remarkable for FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
The said April 22 episode came just two days after the Kapamilya show breached 230,000 viewers on Kapamilya Online Live, which made FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano the only Filipino show to do so.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano looks poised to keep its high ratings for a while, as events in the show are [still] expected to get more intense in the coming episodes. As Cardo Dalisay is close to finding the truth about the fake Oscar Hidalgo (Rowell Santiago)–in the same way as Aurora (Sharon Cuneta) is also close to discover if her daughter with Oscar is still alive. The series is all geared up the attract bigger attention.
