A day after setting a new record on Kapamilya Online Live, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano created a new milestone on April 11–its concurrent live viewers soared past 200,000 for the first time.
The raging tension and fire exchange between Task Force Agila and the combined forces of Black Ops and Lito Valmoria (Richard Gutierrez), evidently generated a never-before-seen level of interest for any TV series streaming on YouTube. On its ‘Open Fire’ episode last night, the six-year-old primetime series broke the record it set a night earlier when its concurrent live viewers exceeded 180,000.
As the episode went on, Task Force Aguila and the Black Ops-Valmoria coalition pounded against each other more. The concurrent live viewers for the show went higher and even soared past 200,000 before peaking at 222,000, which makes the Coco Martin-starrer the first local TV series to do so.
During the episode, Lito Valmoria and Cardo Dalisay had an intense exchange of fire, which ended up with the fake president (Rowell Santiago) getting shot. The episode also saw Armando (John Estrada) finally catching up with Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel).
His attempt to kill the crime lord got halted by a gunshot from Eduardo (Roi Vinzon), Don Ignacio’s brother. A hint that Armando might have survived the gunshot in the preview for the next episode.
The Martin-led hit series is likely to make more milestones–not just online but on TV, too. It is already the second most-watched show, behind GMA Network’s First Lady.
The intensification of the rivalry [not just] between Task Force Agila and Lito Valmoria, but also between Renato Hipolito (John Arcilla) and First Lady Lily Hidalgo (Lorna Tolentino) looks poised to engage more viewers. Audiences are also likely to get glued on the development of the real Oscar Hidalgo’s quest to reach Cardo Dalisay’s group to finally enlighten them about their misconception about the President and Mariano, who has been pretending as the real Oscar Hidalgo.
