The two rival primetime series are just 0.7% apart, based on the TV ratings reported by AGB Nielsen on Friday, April 8.
The record-breaking spree of ABS-CBN’s most popular TV series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, is beginning to reflect on its viewership on television. Based on the latest data from a media survey firm, AGB Nielsen, the six-year-old Kapamilya series is inching closer to toppling GMA Network’s First Lady. The Kapuso series and maintained its position as the most-watched TV series in the country, since its debut in February, this year.
On Monday, April 11, 2022, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano peaked at 180,000 concurrent live viewers, its highest in the last two months. That record got immediately squashed the following day, as concurrent live viewers on Kapamilya Online Live, surges past 220,000, for the first time since Kapamilya shows started streaming on Kapamilya Online Live.
Based on AGB Nielsen’s National Urban TV Measurement (NUTAM) People data, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano got 12.2%, while GMA Network’s First Lady rated 12.9%. The gap between the two shows’ TV ratings is the slimmest since the Kapuso series debuted. First Lady is the sequel of 2021’s highest-rated TV series, First Yaya, which peaked at 24% TV rating according to AGB Nielsen.
Judging the Coco Martin-starrer record-breaking trend online, it won’t surprise if the Kapamilya series reclaims its spot as the most-watched TV series, online. It can be recalled that FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano was able to defeat in TV ratings the Heat Evangelista-led Kapuso series, I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, in early February, this year.
It is also worth noting that crucial developments are happening to the show’s current story arc. It involves Armando (John Estrada) finally getting his revenge on Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel) and the reunion of former sweethearts Oscar Hidalgo (Rowell Santiago) and Aurora (Sharon Cuneta).
Audiences are also on the edge of their seats for that time when Cardo (Coco Martin) finally discovers that Mariano is not the real Oscar Hidalgo.
