On Thursday, March 31, Actor-director Epy Quizon was greedy enough to compete with his other siblings just to have the late Dolphy’s attention.
In the virtual media conference of his upcoming movie Greed, Quizon began by saying that they were a giving family.
“Ako kasi, pinanganak kami na giving talaga kami. I think the whole family is. Siguro natutunan namin ‘yon sa tatay namin ‘yon na mas’yadong mapagbigay. As in talagang may pumipila sa labas ng dressing room ng tatay ko parang mamigay.”
However, as explained by the actor, greed takes on many shapes. He pointed out that having 17 other brothers and sisters with one father brings out their respective “competitiveness.”
“Siguro mas naging greedy kami dahil disiotso kaming magkakapatid, wanting that time for our father. So I guess doon ko talaga na-experience yung greed. It’s more on the emotional greediness, yung selfishness. Siyempre mas gusto mong mas pansinin ka nang tatay mo.”
This was the only time that Quizon became greedy.
During the pandemic, they tried to help other people despite financially struggling.
“In terms of monetary, akala ko nitong pandemya mas lalo akong magiging greedy kasi under threat nga yung family ko, of course ang kinabukasan lalo na at wala kaming trabaho.
“I guess hindi mo rin mapraktis yung greed kasi parang maaawa ka rin sa mga taong nasa paligid mo na nangangailangan din ng tulong,” he explained.
Quizon figured out that he was not a millionaire even though he had been in the industry for a long time because they were “generous.”
“It’s not really in my nature to become greedy. Siguro kaya hindi ako naging milyonaryo maski na I’ve been working for quite some time. Kung tutuusin dapat marami na akong pera ngayon pero siguro dahil naturuan lang kami ng tatay namin na mapagbigay, and I guess until now we practice that.”
Quizon stars alongside Nadine Lustre and Diego Loyzaga in Vivamax’s Greed, a psychological thriller movie. It is about a couple being haunted by men’s desire to have everything after winning the jackpot prize in the lottery.
The movie is directed by Yam Laranas and will be available for streaming worldwide on April 8.
