Actress Ella Cruz on Thursday, April 21, forgot the character she was playing in the horror movie Rooftop.
The film was intended for a theatrical release but was shelved for three years due to Covid-19. It will be the first Viva film on the big screen after the pandemic.
Cruz was asked to describe and relate to her character Wave during its virtual media conference.
She responded, “Wait lang! Kasi three years na ang nakalipas eh.”
The actress then admitted that the entire cast asked for their character’s name before the conference.
“Bago po itong presscon, we have to ask kung ano yung mga pangalan namin dito sa movie na ito. Gano’n siya. Kasi before pandemic pa namin siya nai-shoot.”
Her character, Wave, was the youngest member of the group. At the same time, Cruz was also the “baby” on the set.
“As far as I remember, si Wave, ang character ko, is the youngest. Siya ang freshman dito sa barkadahan.
“I think ang makaka-relate lang doon is that it always feels like I’m the youngest sa set. So parang ako ang baby talaga nila and ako yung very scared sa grupo, which is totoo din.”
She also shared that it took a long time for the movie to be released because Viva and Direk Yam intended to have it on the big screen.
“Kasi nga po, barkada film po talaga siya—kasi nga barkada kaming nandito and horror film siya. Mas ramdam mo ang whole experience kapag nasa isang sinehan ka ng horror film.”
Rooftop is about a group of friends whose lives were haunted by the victim of their mindless prank.
It stars Ryza Cenon including Marco Gumabao, Rhen Escaño, Marco Gallo, Andrew Muchlach, and Epy Quizon.
Rooftop will be shown, only in SM cinemas, on April 27.
The movie will also be the Philippines’ entry for the upcoming Asian Horror Festival.
