Filmmaker Yam Laranas, Diego Loyzaga, and Epy Quizon, on Thursday, March 31, weighed in on the notion that Nadine Lustre should do sexy roles.
They all supported Lustre in her decision to break free from her typical romantic roles and wanted her to explore other genres.
In the virtual media conference for the upcoming Vivamax psychological thriller film Greed, Laranas said that the actress does not necessarily need to be seen as a sex symbol.
“It’s hard to say na sexy. Ako I would probably say depende sa context. Daring, yes. Sexy? To me, it should be based on the story,” expressed the director during the virtual media conference of Greed.
Having worked with her in the movie, Quizon pointed out that Lustre deserves to be seen in a “different light.”
“Ako ano, I like to see her really going out of the box. Because this time around, I saw that she is capable of morphing into the character.
“And I think she is one of the actresses now that is really focused and passionate with her craft. And I think that she can really take that to another level.
“It doesn’t have to be sexy. Kung maganda ang content ‘di ba? I think she could go for it head-on easily,” he said.
Loyzaga, on the other hand, said he supports Lustre in whatever she wants to do as an actress.
“I’d like to see Nadine wherever she feels she would thrive, wherever she feels most passionate about, whatever role she is passionate about doing, then doon ako. S’yempre support.”
Meanwhile, Lustre pointed out that she always wanted to try new roles.
“Personally, I don’t want to be boxed into that kind of branding. Because I know that there is so much more that I can do, and there is more than I can offer, and I really wanna explore,” shared the actress.
Greed is about a couple who wins the jackpot prize in a lottery but is eventually hunted down by their neighbor, who wants the money all for himself.
The movie will have its world premiere on April 8 through Vivamax.
