Award-winning actress Dexter Doria on Tuesday, April 26, took on the claims of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr that he established the first power-generating windmill farm in Southeast Asia—the Bangui Wind Farm in Ilocos Norte.
On Marcos Jr’s website, he claimed, “When he was Governor of Ilocos Norte, he established the Bangui Wind Farm – the first power-generating windmill farm in Southeast Asia.”
Doria tackled the topic through her latest Didi Serye titled “CREDIT GRABBER? MAY KILALA AKONG GANYAN!”
She started by comparing the young Marcos to a group member who did not contribute to the group but was given a final grade.
“Walang ambag sa brainstorming, research, draft, pagsusulat, pagrereport ng project n’yo pero mabibigyan ng final grade,” she said.
The actress then debunked the claim that it was Marcos Jr who founded the Bangui Wind Farm when he was the governor of Ilocos Norte.
“Example! Noong 1996, ginawa ng NorthWind Power Development Corporation ang Bangui windmills sa Ilocos. Base sa research ng National Renewable Energy Laboratory ng USA.”
Doria found out that the only contribution that he made was being the province’s governor.
“Yes, gobernardor si Junior noong tinayo ang proyektong ito. Pero… hindi siya ang bumuo o naghanap ng pondo para dito.
“Ayon sa research ko, kinumisyon ng World Bank ang project at kasalukuyang may pinakamalaking shares sa windmills ang AC Energy.”
As of 2017, AC Energy has 67.19% ownership of the windmills. Its sub-company, the NorthWind Power Development Corporation developed the wind turbine power plants.
“Ang paggamit ng windmills o ang pasabing idea niya ito kahit hindi naman totoo ay CREDIT GRABBING,” stressed Doria. “In other words, gusto ng recognition kahit hindi pinagtrabahuhan.”
She then warned the public not to fall for someone who only knows how to take someone else’s work.
“Huwag magpauto sa credit grabber. Gusto niya lang umeksena kapag gusto niya na kayo ang gumawa ng lahat ng trabaho.”
The development of the Bangui Wind Farm is currently listed under Marcos’s achievement as Ilocos Norte’s governor.
