The actress visited the ravaged city on Monday, April 18, to help carry out a relief effort for the survivors of storm Agaton.

The Kapamilya actress and known philanthropist came to the rescue of the people of Baybay City in Leyte, which was gravely ravaged by the recent storm, Agaton.
The death toll due to the storm has risen to 178, with many more still missing and feared to have been buried beneath the ground. A horrible landslide flattened the village of Pilar, where 200 households are entirely covered by mud.
A video showing how the landslide buried the village in mere seconds, went viral online.
According to the Baybay City Information Office, Locsin personally distributed relief goods to the patients admitted at the Immaculate Conception Hospital. There, she met 11-year-old CJ Jasme, the young boy who miraculously survived the landslide, by hiding inside a refrigerator. Rescuers found Jasme alive, but severely weakened and starved, after hiding inside the fridge overnight.
Jasme’s father, unfortunately, was unable to escape the mud and died. CJ’s older brother, 13, luckily managed to run away, while their mother and their sister, are still missing.
Locsin’s presence in Baybay to extend help to survivors is no longer a foreign scene to many. She has been known for her relief efforts in the past. During the Marawi siege, she is one of those personalities, who carried out charity and relief efforts for the residents of the city.
