A basher of actress-philanthropist Angel Locsin on Monday, April 25, misunderstood the latter’s statement about inviting people to support Vice President and presidential candidate Leni Robredo.
“Inaanyayahan ko po kayo, ang bawat isa po dito, mag-aya po tayo dito ng mga taga-kabila. Ipakita po natin ang pagmamahal dito. Dahil kung makayaya tayo ng tig-sampung tao hanggang eleksyon, panalo po tayo,” Locsin said at a grand rally in Pasay City on Saturday.
A troll perceived it to be the actress’s way of telling Filipinos to elect Robredo for the sake of ABS-CBN’s franchise.

Locsin clarified that she would cast her vote for Robredo whether her network has a franchise or not.
She added, “Mahal pa rin kita ate.”
May prangkisa o wala, kay VP Leni ako 🙂 mahal pa rin kita ate 🙂 https://t.co/3UQJM5d23j

Another basher even accused the actress of being a member of the terrorist group New People’s Army (NPA) due to her Twitter handle “143redangel”.
However, Locsin, being red-tagged on numerous occasion, replied, “At kahit nakakatanggap po ako ng mga ganito araw-araw, maninidigan pa rin po ako sa tama.”

In 2020, ABS-CBN was shut down for the second time since 1972. Amid the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte made sure that the Kapamilya Network will be booted off the air during his term.
A number of allegations were thrown at ABS-CBN—its ownership, tax evasion issues, and its “biased” reportage. All of them were proven to be mere claims.
Government agencies such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) even cleared the network from tax evasion cases.
However, with a vote of 70-11, Congress rendered judgment denying ABS-CBN a fresh 25-year license to operate.
Almost 11,000 Kapamilya employees were either retrenched or laid off. An exodus of talents has switched to other TV networks.
ABS-CBN was forced to find refuge in streaming and digital platforms. It also partnered with TV5 and several TV stations to broadcast some of its all-time Kapamilya favorite shows.
