The ’80s OPM icon popularized several ‘hugot’ anthems including Tell Me and Iisa Pa Lamang.
OPM hitmaker Joey Albert surprised netizens this week when screenshots of her facebook posts surfaced on twitter. The Filipino singer made her political stand a few months back, but it is just recently that most fans, especially Kakampinks, found out whom she is supporting in the 2022 national polls.
Albert or Maria Josefina Albert-Pacis in real life, made the public know that it is the BBM-Sara tandem she is voting for when she changed her facebook’s profile photo to one that uses a frame that features Bongbong Marcos.
She also uploaded a video where was singing her version of Umagang Kay Ganda, which is currently used as a campaign song by the BBM-Sara team. Her hashtags also confirmed her support for the tandem.
A twitter user, @ralphwaldomc shared his disappointment in a tweet. “I am so disappointed with Joey Albert,” his caption reads.
The tweet has a photo attached that shows a screengrab of an apparent exchange of posts between Albert and one of her friends.

In the said exchange, Albert agreed with her friend, who is also a supporter of the defeated 2016 vice presidentiable.
“I just don’t get when people judge BBM by the sins of the father … in retrospective… Marcos has done more good to the country than what he is accused of and by the way after over thirty years … they haven’t proven anything..” her friend argued, to which she replied with “exactly… all of what you said is why I still stand by Marcos… yes, the father. The Aquinos were not clean either. Marcos had a war to fight. The Aquinos just killed coz they didn’t want to give the farmers their land.”
Another post suggests Albert still had a lot to tell about, but they decided to keep their conversation private.
The user who posted the conversation on facebook does not seem happy not just about Albert’s being a BBM supporter, but also about her apparent fake-news-peddling spree.
“This is really big deal to me because I’m a huge fan and I follow her vlog and I swear she does not fit the Marcos apologist template. She doesn’t seem to be the type who’d fall for conspiracy theories. I hate that my view of her artistry is ruined,” his tweet reads.

Other netizens also voiced their disappointment in Albert.
“Tell me…where did I go wrong? Emz” Chris said, echoing a line of Albert’s iconic song, Tell Me.

Alex, on the other hand, suspects he may not be able to stand listening to the OPM icon’s songs again.”Shet 🙁 i can never listen to her songs the same way again”

Albert-Pacis has been living in Vancouver, Canada for years, with her husband Vicente Pacis III and their two children. It is unsure whether or not she is still a registered Filipino voter.
