On March 31, ‘1st.One’ member Jason recalled details about his journey from being a feature in Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho to a Pinoy Pop Idol.
During the media conference for ‘1st.One’s contract signing with Warner Music Philippines, Jason updated his fans on his current relationship with his family in South Korea.
“Actually, they’re great naman po, they’re fine in Korea po kahit po na pandemic. Nag-uusap pa rin po kami through chats. To be honest, hindi pa po kami nag-uusap in person, sinabi po nila na may best time para mag-meet in person pero hindi pa daw po sila makipagkita in person.
“Hindi po nila masyado napaliwanag kung paano pero we respect their decision. Pero, right now, we’re just waiting for them. Pero in good terms naman po kami.”
Jason also detailed how much he values his Mom’s sacrifice for him.
“One of the most, horrifying fear na ayaw kong mangyari sa akin is losing my mom.
“For me, she’s all I have na super close sa family ganon. Kasi, tinatatak ko po sa isip ko na I have to pay her back sa lahat po ng sacrifice na nagawa niya for me.
“Dapat wala po talaga ako dito sa Earth kung hindi lang po talaga siya tumakas sa Korea noon. Kaya sobrang na-appreciate ko po. Kaya dahil po doon, I have to pay her back para sa lahat ng sacrifices.”
He then shared the challenges he faced as a PPop Idol.
“One of the most challenging parts of being a PPop idol is leaving your comfort zone because I came from provincial life. And going here in the city, and [then] magte-training kami.
“Hindi po ako aware sa ganitong buhay sanay po akong tumira sa province I think ‘yun po ‘yung pinaka most challenging for me kasi nasanay na tahimik lang, na normal lang na dating student rin lang.”
Jason first appeared on TV in 2017 when Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho featured him as a Filipino-Korean teenager. He was separated from his brothers in South Korea after his mother ran away from her abusive ex-husband.
He joined ‘1st.One‘ with Alpha, J, Ace, Max, and Joker, and GMA Network launched the PPop group in 2020. However, they encountered difficulties amid the pandemic. Now, the boy group signed with the music label Warner Music Philippines, cementing their place in the music industry.
