During the Isko-Sara (ISSA) Movement on Wednesday, March 9, Director of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) Vivien Velez and independent film producer Edith Fider shared their reason why Vice President Leni Robredo could not be their next President.
In a “fill in the blanks” question, Velez supplemented the missing words by saying that Robredo was “destroying” the country.
“Okay sana si Leni kaya lang sinisiraan niya ang Pilipinas,” she said. “So hindi ko makakalimutan ‘yon.”
Velez added that the Vice President also did not cooperate with Pres. Rodrigo Duterte as his second-in-command.
“And she was never… parang wala siyang ano eh, of course, yung pagkakaisa na tinatawag natin. Noong naging Vice President siya, hindi naman niya tinulungan si Presidente Duterte.”
The FAP director even expressed her stand on the battling colors: red and pink, symbolizing Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. while the latter is of Robredo.
“At yun nga, sinasabi natin, kapag pula ang nanalo, may away na naman. Kapag pink ang nanalo, may away din ‘yan.”
It is better to have a neutral color like blue, she said. The color stands for Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
“Kaya gumitna na po tayo kay Isko Moreno at Sara Duterte. Walang away.”
Fider, on the other hand, admitted that she was a supporter of the Aquinos for 35 years. However, she renounced her support upon seeing that “no change” had happened during their era.
As to why she will not support the Vice President in her presidential run, the film producer pointed out that Robredo was backed by those she once admired.
“Si Leni okay naman siya eh. Okay naman siya kasi masipag siya, maparaan siya, kaya lang, yung mga taong 35 years kong sinuportahan nandiyan pa rin. So wala akong inaasahang pagbabago sa kanya. Kailangan ko nang drastic na pagbabago. Kasi ‘yon ang kailangan ng ating bansa ngayon. Kay Isko ko lang nakikita iyon.”
The ISSA Movement which aims to unite Moreno and BBM’s running-mate Davao City Mayor Sara “Inday” Duterte-Carpio, is consisted of various multi-sectoral groups including the Muslim community, vendors, indigenous people, businessmen, Butuan Basurero Association, women, LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer), youth, senior citizens, Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity, Zeta Phi Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Rho, and ANO Fraternity and Sorority.
