On March 22, The CompanY member Sweet Plantado shared her thoughts about why artists and celebrities should voice their political stand for the 2022 elections.
During the media conference for their album launch for Gitna, Plantado highlighted the impact of celebrities with a high following on social media.
“I think for now, lalo na ngayon, there’s no more excuse, lalo na kung artist ka na may following ka, may sumusuporta sayo, may naniniwala sayo.”
She also emphasized the significance of declaring their political stand for their children and family.
“For us, sa group, I can say na lahat kami hindi na kami takot siguro sa cancel culture because it’s a lot bigger than us. It’s not about us. We made a stand for our children, for our family, for the future of our country. Kasi mahal natin ang Pilipinas, kahit nagagalit na tayo sa bansa natin, alam natin, deep inside mahal natin ‘to.”
Plantado added that she wanted to verbalize what she believed in for her kids.
“So ang dami na nating pinagdaanan, so kung tatahimik ka pa, paano na lang kaya pa ba namin. Hindi na namin kaya. Ako personally, hindi ko na kaya to keep quiet. I want to verbalize and say what I believe in, what I think is right and not just for me, but for my children talaga. Kasi, how am I supposed to bring up my children in this situation.”
Earlier, the music group including Annie Quintos, OJ Mariano, Moy Ortiz, and Sweet Plantado, performed at the Bicol leg of VP Leni Robredo’s campaign rally.
As for their music, The CompanY recently released its newest album Gitna, housing a collection of multi-genre songs that offers different themes of love with their impeccable vocal harmony.
The 10-track album is currently available on all digital streaming platforms, while their music video of Gitna streams on March 25 at 8 PM on Star Music’s YouTube channel.
