On March 24, Megastar Sharon Cuneta admitted she felt slighted when a political figure sang her song Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas during a political rally.
On her Twitter account, Sharon posted a lengthy thread explaining her earlier statement saying she would only allow her songs at events of her husband, Kiko Pangilinan.
She admitted that she felt slighted when senatorial candidate Salvador Panelo went on to sing her song Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas.
Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas
I thought long and hard about whether I should write this, kasi bugbog na bugbog na ang issue at ayoko na sana dagdagan. But I decided to, because in the end, it’s the truth that matters, to me and to those of you who’d care to know it. I posted about some-

one singing my song during a campaign sortie that wasn’t one of VP Leni and Kiko’s. I thought that since I said “I only allow Leni-Kiko (people) to sing it (during campaign season is wihat I meant)”, people would understand why I reacted in such a way. Truth is, I felt slighted.

She added that this gesture seemed to belittle her husband as he ran for the Vice Presidency alongside his running mate, Leni Robredo.

She even cited the reaction of one news outlet to Panelo’s performance.
biro at sarcasm, kaya madaming di nakaunawa. Kaya siguro CNN Philippines singled out his performance of my song in an article on CNN Philippines online.I suspect it was because they too, found it a bit “off.”

She then further clarified that she’s not monopolizing her song, citing all the various charities she has lent her voice to in the past.
My song is thirty-six years old. In fact, I feel honored whenever someone chooses it to sing.

She then apologized to her fans and supporters for her earlier reaction to Panelo’s rendition of her song.
should have just said exactly how I was feeling, and in a more respectful manner – no matter what. I am also so sorry, my Sharmy/Sharonians. I disappointed you.

Earlier, Sharon called out Salvador Panelo through Twitter after the political figure’s performance of her song Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas during a political event in Quezon City.
Written, arranged, and composed by Willy Cruz, Sharon released Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas in 1986 as an original soundtrack (OST) to the film by Leroy Salvador of the same title. She then launched the album of the same title in 1994.
