Partylist Rep. and Senatorial candidate Rodante Marcoleta proudly boast off his participation in the denial of the ABS-CBN franchise.
In his speech at the Uniteam’s campaign sortie in General Santos City, Marcoleta proudly bragged that he shut down the country’s biggest network ABS-CBN.
“Pinakamalaking network sa ating bansa, makapangyarihan. Kaya niyang ibagsak pati political career ng isang kandidato.
“Hindi po tayo natakot. Isinara ko po ang ABS-CBN dahil sa inyo. Ngayon pa ba ako matatakot? Kasama ko na si Bongbong Marcos. Ngayon pa ba ako matatakot? Kasama ko na si Inday Duterte.”
Marcoleta was one of the 70 Duterte-allied congressmen who voted to deny the ABS-CBN franchise renewal application.
He, along with Rep. Boying Remulla and Congressman and now QC Mayoral candidate Mike Defensor was the three main opposers of the Kapamilya network’s franchise application during its hearing at the House of Representatives.
Netizens, meanwhile, took to social media to share their disgust over Marcoleta’s gloating.
@PeterVilladolid slammed Marcoleta for feeling proud despite costing 11 thousand jobs.
“Proud sya, pinasara nya ang ABSCBN, 11k na empleyado nawalan ng trabaho. Nawalan ng local stations. And because of what!? Kasi may galit si Duterte!? E di gago!”

@yupitda3rd shared the same reaction blasting Marcoleta’s arrogance in bragging about his participation in the ABS-CBN shutdown, causing thousands of people to lose their jobs.
“”Ako po ang nagpasara ng ABS-CBN.” – Marcoleta. He’s bragging that he caused thousands of people to lose their jobs. Napaka-callous ng animal.”

@mikkismet also questioned Marcoleta’s gall to claim ABS-CBN’s shutdown as his achievement, knowing its consequences on the network’s employees.
“he basically said “i took away thousands of people’s jobs and closed a billion-peso taxpaying company”. achievement yon swiss?!?”

Same with @itsmeniezel, who asked Marcoleta if he’s happy that he caused the suffering of thousands of ABS-CBN employees.
“Thousands suffered because of what you did, happy ka?”

Aside from Marcoleta, other netizens also threw shade on Toni Gonzaga.
“And Otin G supports his candidacy. DISGUSTING! “ @krizzy_kalerqui.

Toni Gonzaga gets flak on social media following her controversial hosting sting at the Uniteam Proclamation Rally in Bulacan.
Toni cheerfully introduced Marcoleta as the next Senator of the Philippines.
