MAK Entertainment Services head Ferdie Mak revealed how he selected the OPM artists involved in the MAK Musik Festival.
During the media conference for the music event, Mak said he wanted to give the Filipino audience in the U.S. a variety of music genres.
“They’re amazing. That’s the reason why our team chose to get all the different artists that are here because we wanted to get a variety where everybody gets to listen to different genres.”
He then listed each of the artists and the respective genres they would perform during the live event.
“You have our total performer here, Darren. We have EZ Mil. We have your King and Queen of R&B. You have the rockstar here, Steven Paysu. We have our balladeer, Froilan Canlas, Keifer Sanchez, Francheska. So we wanted to get that whole spectrum of music so everybody would get to listen and enjoy.”
Jay R then shared how Mak reached out to him as a fan through his streaming performance amid the pandemic.
“During the pandemic, this is where we actually met Ferdie Mak. During the pandemic, we were doing (mostly) streams. And Ferdie Mak would jump on and support because he’s also a fan, and he’s telling us that, and all of a sudden, we’re doing this festival.
“Parang blessing in disguise lang po ‘yung pandemic na hindi kami makalabas puro online lang, and we get to network in a different kind of way. Kasi online, network worldwide po eh. Kaya imbis na sa Pilipinas, if it was open, we’re just going to network in the Philippines, but because of the pandemic, we met Ferdie Mak.”
The MAK Musik Festival happens on April 1 and 2 in Los Angeles, California. The live music event includes OPM artists such as Kyla, Jay R, EZ Mil, Darren Espanto, Froilan Canlas, HBOM, Steven Paysu, Keifer Sanchez, and Kaela Francheska.
