TNT Boys member Mackie Empuerto said he is happy he signed a solo contract with ABS-CBN Music on Thursday, March 17.
“Napakasaya ko po and I feel blessed today na isa na po akong ABS-CBN Music artist,” said Empuerto during the virtual media conference. “Super saya ko po as in. Hindi ko po ma-explain pero super saya ko po talaga.”
Being with a group almost his entire career, the 16-year-old singer was reluctant to go solo at first. But then he realized the opportunity to showcase his talent if he is not in a group.
“Ang advantage po as a solo artist, siguro po mas mapapakita ko pa po yung mga p’wede ko pa pong gawin. As a group naman po, maganda naman po but medyo hindi ko lang napapakita kapag may ka-group po,” he explained.
He also plans to become a total performer and act as well.
Meanwhile, the young singer sang his version of Ryan Cayabyab’s Can This Be Love during the launch. It is also his single as a solo artist.
“So noong pagkarinig ko sa Can This Be Love, sabi ko po talaga na, ‘Eto na po. Eto na po ang kanta na p’wede kong kantahin.’ Kasi it fits my age and also, lahat nakakaramdam ng love po.”
Sarah Geronimo first reimagined the song.
Empuerto’s rendition of Can This Be Love is already available on various streaming platforms starting March 18.
