In a press conference for their latest album Liwanag, Filipino rock band The Juans revealed that their newest songs were taken from their personal experiences, Thursday, March 17.
“Talagang napagdaanan namin one way or another ‘tong mga ito,” lead vocalist Carl Guevarra said.
He added, “As in these are the songs that we will write in our private bedroom moments. Alam mo ‘yon, parang ‘I just wanna express what I’m feeling right now and I would write about it.'”
The group also had no trouble writing the songs for the album. Despite the still-ongoing pandemic, they managed to come up with inspirational songs for every Juan through teamwork.
“So basically, hindi namin kinahon yung proseso. We just really laid down lahat nang mga songs na personal naming nasulat. Then from there, doon lang kami nagkaroon ng structure.
“So from there, we were able to draft a flow. And then noong songwriting camp, we kinda just fill in the gaps.”
The Liwanag album is the first full-length release for 2022 of the group.
Furthermore, members such as vocalist Japs Mendoza, bassist Chael Adriano, and guitarist RJ Cruz all contributed to the songwriting.
Just this year, The Juans walked away with two awards at the 7th Wish Music Awards: Best Ballad Song for Dulo, and Rock/Alternative Performance of the Year for Pangalawang Bitaw.
Meanwhile, their latest album has been released and is now available on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
