Kris Bernal returns to GMA Network, thankful, grateful for her a new show

On March 1, returning Kapuso star, Kris Bernal expressed her gratitude to GMA Network for giving her a new show.

During the media conference for Artikulo 247, Bernal thanked the Kapuso Network for giving her first full-time Kontrabida role.

“Thankful and grateful sa GMA kasi nabigyan ako ulit ng bagong show. Nakabalik ako sa GMA and ang ganda-ganda ng role na binigay nila sa akin, ang ganda-ganda ng show. And it’s actually my first full time Kontrabida role almost same with Impostora.”

She admitted that she encountered difficulties playing a Kontrabida role but enjoyed the challenge nonetheless.

“Pero kasi, I can say na this is more difficult for me kasi parang full-time nga siya. So parang may mga emotions na kahit ako na-surprise ako na kaya ko palang gawin.

“May mga emotions na hindi ko pa nagagawa–may mga emotions na nailabas ako na hindi ko pa nagawa before. Maybe because I’m used to being the goody-goody one. Lagi ako ‘yung bida, lagi ako ‘yung kawawa, so parang lahat bago para sa akin.

“Pero na-enjoy ko siya. Na-realize ko nga na my acting skill was put to test kasi lahat parang bago. Na-challenge talaga ako.”

She also described her character as soft-hearted despite appearing as strong and brave.

“Siguro with Claire, I can say that she’s very soft hearted. She seems to be strong, physical niya, and matapang siya pagdating sa lahat ng tao. Pero siya ‘yung once na maiwan mo mag-isa or ‘yun nga magkaroon siya ng moment sa sarili niya.

“Ang dami niyang insecurities, ang dami niyang frustrations in life. Maiintindihan mo kung bakit siya ganon. So, I guess ‘yun ‘yung tinatago ni Claire na hindi niya pinapakita sa ibang tao.”

Admittedly, Bernal said she’s a martyr when it comes to her loved ones.

“Oo naman, ano ako mapagmahal ako eh. Ganon ako eh, martyr ako. And super maintindihin ako, so kahit sinasaktan na ako, kahit hindi ko gusto gawin, kahit di pabor sa akin, kung saan ka happy, okay gagawin ko for you.”

She then noted that her Kontrabida role in the series expanded her repertoire in acting.

“Akala ko kasi nandoon na ako sa–naipit na ako sa sweet and parang cute na everytime na may makakasalubong akong mga fans or mga tao, parang nakadikit pa rin sa kanila ‘yung Tinay ko, ‘yung mga sweet na love team ko with Aljur before.

“Pero na-realize ko na shucks ang dami ko pa palang pwedeng gawin, pwede pa pala ako magkontrabida and then simula pa lang ito ng pagiging Kontrabida ko so pwede pa akong magKontrabida sa iba or character role.”

In 2020, Bernal signed with Cornerstone Entertainment Inc. after her contract with GMA Network expired.

Bernal stars in GMA Network’s riveting legal drama, Artikulo 247,  with other Kapuso actors Rhian Ramos, Benjamin Alves, and Mark Herras.

The series directed by Jorron Lee Monroy also includes Mike Tan, Victor Silayan, Carla Martinez, Denise Barbacena, Rain Matienzo, and Brent Valdez.

The gripping teleserye premieres on March 7 on GMA Afternoon Prime.
