On Tuesday, March 8, young artist Kaila Estrada admitted being overwhelmed by how well her career is going, despite being relatively new in the industry.
While being part of ABS-CBN’s newest series Viral Scandal, she stars in an upcoming episode of the Kapamilya longest-running anthology series Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) featuring Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity former celebrity housemate Karen Bordador’s story.
During MMK’s virtual media conference, Estrada said, “Honestly po, it can be really overwhelming. May mga times pa rin po na parang it feels surreal. But also I’m so grateful because I feel like all my hard work has paid off.”
Luckily, her parents, Janice De Belen and John Estrada showered her support.
“Yung parents ko, I’m just really happy that they’re proud of me, that they watch the work that I do. They don’t watch it na magkakasama kami kasi hindi ko po kaya, hahaha. Pero I’m just really glad that they’re very supportive,” she shared.
It was also challenging yet inspiring for her to portray Bordador who was imprisoned for five years after being wrongly accused of “possession and sale of illegal drugs.”
“You know, I kept telling myself habang nagte-taping kami na I cannot imagine going through what she went through. The fact that she’s so positive and yung fighting spirit niya na lumaban regardless of what was thrown at her, sobrang nakaka-inspire po talaga.”
The young artist also realized that “there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.”
“Her story really showed me that and she found a purpose, you know, she gave herself purpose. She was also at the service of other people.
“She was able to help so many people and herself given the situation that she had. And I felt that was so inspiring na given her situation nakatulong pa rin siya sa ibang mga kasama niya. She just trusted, she prayed, and she believed na, ‘lalaban ako, kaya kong makalabas dito, lalaban ako.’ Yun po talaga.”
The two-part episode of MMK will also include seasoned film, TV, and theater actress Sharmaine Buencamino who will play Bordador’s mother. Former Pinoy Big Brother: Otso housemate Lou Yanong is also part of the cast.
The upcoming MMK story helmed by Raz dela Torre will be aired on March 12 and 19 via Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live YouTube channel, ABS-CBN Entertainment Facebook page, and iWantTFC.
