On Tuesday, March 15, singer-actor Jeric Gonzales weighed in on interpreting his latest song Hihintayin Kita.
He took it literally, explaining that patience is everything.
“Patient ka sa lahat, particularly speaking, sa love. Siguro general, sa lahat nang paghihintay, if you want something, if you love something, you have to wait talaga,” the actor said during a virtual media conference.
It is also the theme song for his upcoming film Broken Blooms, an entry for the upcoming 41st Oporto International Film Festival in Portugal.
Gonzales shared that he followed the movie’s director, Luisito “Louie” Lagdameo Ignacio, in terms of putting the right emotions into the song.
“Itong Hihintayin Kita, hindi na ako nahirapan masyado during the recording. Kasi fresh from the shoot, sabi ni Direk Louie gamitin ko na yung mga emotions ko ‘don, yung mga scenes namin doon ng character ko. So ayun talaga, naka-relate talaga ako nang husto sa character ko and ginamit ko na siya during the recording ng song,” explained the actor.
Prior to becoming one of GMA Network’s most-promising actors, he was a musician, first and foremost. With his acting career booming, he said he wants to release a song of his own someday.
“Sa music naman, I want more. Gusto kong maka-compose, makagawa ng sarili kong kanta—actually nagsusulat din naman ako— hopefully makapag-release ako nang single ko na ako yung sumulat ako yung nag-compose.”
Hihintayin Kita is already available on various digital platforms. On Sunday, March 20, the song will mark its launching in the network’s variety show All-Out Sundays.
