It’s Showtime, ABS-CBN’s longest-running weekday noontime show, continues to keep hold of its viewers despite its limited free TV presence.
The Kapamilya show may be appearing on free TV via A2Z Channel 11 only, but it is already the second most-watched daily noontime show in the country, according to AGB Nielsen’s National Urban TV Measurement (NUTAM) data.
That means the 12-year-old show has now surpassed TV5’s Lunch Out Out, which used to be the second most-watched program on its time slot.
The Brighlight Productions-produced Kapatid show is notably populated by former It’s Showtime figures, including former Kapamilya host Billy Crawford and Tawag ng Tanghalan judge K Brosas. LOL has claimed in various press releases, that it defeated It’s Showtime’s TV rating many times.
That seems to be no longer the case, as the previous data from AGB Nielsen placed It’s Showtime on the 25 most-watched programs’ chart. The show rated 2.0% based on the rating firm’s report, placing the show 25th among the shows ranked. TV5’s LOL, meanwhile, is nowhere to be found in the chart, as it also failed to enter the Top 30 most-watched list.
It’s Showtime’s return to the chart comes before its another free TV expansion, which rumors suggest to take place this year. Late last year reports circulated that Lunch Out Loud was already down to its last few broadcasts, but the rumors have since been disproved by Brightlight Productions.
Now in its 13th year, It’s Showtime remains a formidable presence online via YouTube and Kapamilya Online Live, where at least 50,000 concurrent live viewers watch the show from Monday to Friday.
The show regularly beats its major rival on GMA Network, Eat Bulaga, whose meager 4-5% daily ratings, are surprisingly lower than what the show used to get before the ABS-CBN’s shutdown.
Today, It’s Showtime is headlined by its main hosts, Vice Ganda, Vhong Navarro, Kim Chiu, Amy Perez, Ryan Bang, Teddy Corpuz, Jugs Jugueta, and Ogie Alcasid. Tawag ng Tanghalan remains its main competition, while Sexy Babe is also one of the show’s current flagship segments.
