After senatorial candidate Sal Panelo sang Sharon Cuneta’s Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas during a political campaign event in Quezon City, netizens are asking why Darryl Yap is quiet regarding Cuneta calling out the attention of Panelo.
On February 28, Yap has shared his support for the vice-presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Senator Kiko Pangilinan, the husband of Cuneta, is one of Duterte’s rivals in the upcoming election.
“Ansarap magmahal ng bisaya. Labyu Inday Sara Duterte, ikaw ang aking Bise-Presidente,” the caption said.
In the post’s comment section, Yap has shared that he has deleted disrespectful comments against Pangilinan.
“Hi Guys, sorry— I am deleting disrespectful comments pag tungkol kay Kiko, I love Sharon Cuneta very much. Sensya na po.”
On March 10, via Twitter, Kakie Pangilinan, Cuneta’s daughter, quoted a tweet featuring Panelo singing Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas during vice-presidential candidate Sara Duterte’s meet and greet in Quezon City.

“lol,” Pangilinan captioned.
“WHY?!!!Tell me WHY?!!! I gotta fight for my song’s rights as well as Willy Cruz’s who wrote it! Cannot be. Di dapat sinisira ang isang classic. Basta TAYO ANG AT MAY ORIG! Oh please WE HAVE NOT ALLOWED YOU TO USE OUR SONG! Please stop. Nakakaawa naman ang kanta namin at nakakahiya,” Cuneta replied to her daughter’s tweet.
Under Viva Films, Yap and Cuneta have worked together in the film Revirginized (2021).
Cuneta has deleted her posts against Panelo on social media platforms after the latter asked for an apology.
Panelo explained that it was his favorite song, and he is a fan of Cuneta. He admitted it was his way of commemorating his late son, who has Down Syndrome.
