Several celebrities and netizens could not help but be astounded after they learned about Bongbong Marcos Jr’s decision to run for president–was when he got inspired by the movie Ant-Man.
Their reactions came after Marcos Jr’s wife Liza Araneta-Marcos got interviewed by Boy Abunda.
According to Mrs. Marcos, her husband Bongbong wasn’t too sure about his political plans. After Marcos Jr. watched the Marvel movie–Ant-Man–he decided suddenly to throw his hat off for the 2022 Presidential election.
“You know six months ago, he wasn’t so sure what to do, with no party, you know.
“And then one day we’re watching Ant-Man in the room… He loved Marvel movies, and then he looked at me and he goes, ‘Okay, we’re gonna do this,’ he told me. ‘Do what?’ ‘Run for the presidency,” said Mrs. Marcos.
Because of that, celebrities and netizens could not help but react to her astonishing story.
Theatre actor Red Atadero, in his tweet, asked if he was a fool after he used the Marvel Cinematic Universe to his analogy of Unity.
“Unity” has been Marcos Jr. and Duterte-Carpio’s campaign centerpiece.
“Mukhang tanga pa rin kaya ako sa paningin nila noong ginamit ko ang MCU as an analogy for unity?”

Another theatre artist Gab Pangilinan also reacted and said that Mrs. Marcos’ ‘Ant-Man’ story is logical since the Marvel superhero is a thief-turned-superhero.
“Ant-Man. Thief-turned-superhero. Gets naman logic niya.”

Same with netizen @miamagdalena, who said it’s not hard to figure out since Ant-Man was a master thief.
“So, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. decided to run for the presidency while he was watching Ant-Man six months ago. It figures. Ant-Man (Scott Lang) was a master thief.”

Meanwhile, former Kapamilya reporter Kevin Manalo can’t help but laugh, and he shared an article on Liza Araneta-Marcos’ story.

Economist and Rappler columnist JC Punongbayan, on the other hand, shared an Esquire artcard with a quote from Ant-man, “It’s not often that you rob a place, and then you get welcomed back.”

Like Kevin Manalo, Pinoy Ako Blog also laughed hard as she shared a parody art card featuring Marcos Jr. as “Can’t Man.” It is a shade for his skipping debates, non-disclosure of SALN, non-filing of income tax, and other issues tied to the former dictator’s son.

Blogger Rod Magaru meanwhile chided politicians who are swayed by movies on important decisions.
He asked what movie can he possibly watch for him to decide to run in the Sanguniang Kabataan (SK) elections since Lacson’s stand vs death penalty was inspired by a Netflix movie and now Marcos Jr was inspired by a Marvel film.
