GMA Senior VP for GMA Entertainment Group Lilybeth Gomez-Rasonable admitted that they cannot yet pull off a Philippine adaptation of the hit South Korean drama series Vincenzo.
On Friday, March 11, at a virtual media conference, Rasonable shared that it is extremely challenging to recreate the series.
“Ang hirap namang gawin ng Vincenzo!” she said.
“But ahhmm… I don’t know lang if it will work here because ang ending niyan, ano siya, e… di ba, mobs? Kumbaga, galing siya sa mob.
“So, ano e, yung hero dito ay pumapatay, sa totoo lang. So, I’m not sure, kailangang pag-aralan nang maigi kung magwo-work iyan sa audience natin.
Rasonable stated she is not sure whether the theme of the South Korean drama series would fit with the taste of the Filipino audience.
“Yun yung that’s how he works. So, although I love that show and we tried, actually we inquired.
“But later on, ahh… parang naku, parang hindi kami sure if it will work. But we’re on the lookout pa rin naman for other K-dramas not because nauubusan kami ng stories to tell,”
Rasonable admitted that they have studied whether they could produce a Philippine adaptation of Vincenzo.
“And to be challenged to do something as good as that. So, we’re still on the lookout,” she added.
The South Korean drama series Vincenzo’s budget was estimated to have reached 18 million US dollars.
The series was successful enough to rank fourth on Forbes list of most-viewed Korean series on Netflix in 2021.
Vincenzo was starred by Song Joong-ki, Jeon Yeo-been, Ok Taec-yeon, Kim Yeo-jin, and Kwak Dong-yeon.
