International actors Brandon Melo and Dylan Rogers shared their experiences when they auditioned for their roles in the Filipino movie, Take Me To Banaue on March 3, 2022.
During the media conference for the film, Melo said he fell in love with the script and the role, noting that he went through months of the audition process.
“The role of Hank was a dream come true. When I first heard the script, I was instantly in love with it. And I knew that I wanted to tell his story.
“So we went through multiple months of going through the audition process and making sure that we perfected this character, and/ we collaborated on it and made sure that his (Director Danny Aguilar) vision came to life.
“So it was just an incredible process, and we’re telling a really beautiful love story. So, thrilled to be a part of this, and I can’t wait to show you guys the final product in the future.”
Rogers said he felt privileged to join the cast of the Filipino movie.
“It’s a privilege to be here in this beautiful country, and we’re in such an amazing, funny, and romantic film. It’s a privilege to have such a fun and wild character to embody and play for the next couple of days.
“And it’s really such a privilege to be with such an amazing director and star-studded cast and such a professional production team. And I’m so thankful to be here and bring this story to life.”
Movie director Danny Aguilar cited that they went through hundreds of auditions to cast the roles of Jordan and Hank.
Melo described what it felt like working with a Filipino production team. He also noted the warm welcome he received from the production team of Take Me To Banaue.
“We’ve been wrapping it, going through rehearsals. The process is just as professional as some of the American productions. Nothing’s changed there. It’s just the location and the getting to know this new culture that’s really unique to me. And that has really been far-serving and welcoming. And everybody attached has been so kind and incredible.
“It’s been absolutely just a great experience out there. And the whole country is really/ beautiful. Each morning something new, and I’m just so honored and humbled to be a part of this cast. And everyone attached to this has been so great, and I can’t wait to act alongside them [Filipino actors].”
Rogers echoed Melo’s description of the Filipino culture, expressing his appreciation of the support they received from the cast.
“We’re excited to go, and I think I could agree with Brandon a little bit. The /biggest barrier is the cultural barrier and getting to know you guys more. But everyone has been so supportive, and the cast, everyone we’ve had just been so cool, so it has been a pretty busy acclimation process.”
Melo worked on The Web of Spider-Man (2017) and Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man and the Monsters of Manhattan (2021). As for Rogers, he worked on the movie CRSHD (2019).
