On March 22, The CompanY member Sweet Plantado compared their singing quartet to wine as they age in the recording industry.
During the media conference for their album launch Gitna, Plantado said the group does not feel old while highlighting how they look after themselves.
“Yes, that is a fact, the group is older, but I think okay lang ‘yun. I mean, we don’t feel old. We try to take care of ourselves and go with the flow basta hindi OA, basta hindi pilit.Â
“I think para kaming wine. Wine na the more we age mas lalong sumasarap.”
She also emphasized their group’s interest in taking risks with the music genres they want to include in their albums.
“Sometimes andun ka sa point na, ano pa bang pwede nating gawin. Pero actually, if you don’t stop creating you would surprise yourself. Na, ‘Wow, kaya pala natin ‘to.
“It’s just taking risks sometimes na try natin na if tingin natin it won’t work, let’s forget about that. But ‘yun nga, you’ll never know if you don’t try.”
She then promised that their group wouldn’t stop creating music, accentuating The CompanY’s ability to do any music genre.
“I don’t know exactly what, but it will flow because, for one, we don’t stop creating, we don’t stop thinking of new things to explore, we try. So in terms of music, sorry ‘yun ‘yung medyo iyayabang ko sa grupo na ‘to, lahat ng genre kaya namin.Â
“Ang dami pa naming pwedeng i-experiment, ang dami pa namin gustong i-try basta aware kami, there’s awareness na wag natin ito i-try kasi OA na or pushing it too much.”
Plantado also revealed that their group loves collaborating with young artists.
“We always welcome new blood kasi we we’re that during our time. And we are teachers by heart, our other passion is teaching and mentoring. So it makes us happy that new blood, pumapasok sila.
“We love that, and we love collaborating with young people, kasi ibang perspective naman talaga eh.”
The current members of The CompanY include Annie Quintos, OJ Mariano, Moy Ortiz, and Plantado.
