On March 15, Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10 second big placer Anji Salvacion revealed she reached out to her family affected by Typhoon Odette after exiting the PBB House.
During the media conference for Bida Star Singer, Salvacion said she got worried about her family members being impacted by said typhoon.
“Unang-una ko pong ginawa pagkalabas sa bahay ni Kuya is tumawag po ako sa family ko. Agad ko po silang kinamusta since naapektuhan po sila badly sa bagyong Odette. I’m really worried so the first thing I did is to call them po.”
Salvacion joins the mainstay hosts Karina Bautista and Aljon Mendoza in ABS-CBN’s online talent competition, Bida Star, as they search for the next online singing sensation in Bida Star Singer.
She did not hesitate when she accepted the hosting offer from Bida Star.
“To be honest po, I did not have any hesitations, agad-agad ko po talaga siyang kinuha kasi I know po for a fact na I would learn something from this. And I’m just so happy and I’m so shookt na ‘bakit kaya nila ako kinuha?'”
Salvacion also noted that she wants to inspire the contestants for Bida Star Singer, referencing her experience joining Idol Philippines in 2019.
“To think na, I’ll be helping out po and be inspiring po to other people. Especially, ‘yung mga kabataan. To take that step towards achieving their dreams. I experienced din po the same thing as they do. And I’m really grateful and thankful na I’ll be able to host the same contest na doon din po talaga ako nag-begin.”
Her desire to inspire came from her Mom, who provided for their family as a single parent.
“My Mom is a single mom. She raised two kids for a very long time. For almost half of my life, my Mom raised us–(me and my brother alone). She inspires me a lot. And I really look up to her kasi (because) she was able to go through so much alone.Â
“I am just so dumbfounded, and I’m inspired with her na how could she take all this pain alone. And how does it make her really strong na hanggang ngayon lumalaban pa rin siya. She never gave up, and it really inspired me.”
