Singer and former Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity housemate Anji Salvacion recalled her showbiz journey from singing to hosting on March 15, during the media conference for Bida Star Singer.
Salvacion cited the challenges she faced being a singer early on in her career.
“The most challenging experience ko for me is traveling po talaga. Like, [to get] to travel all the way to Manila away from my home, my comfort zone. At ‘yung mabibigay ko din po talagang advice sa mga aspirants who want to pursue their dreams and wanted to be on stage, to perform, dapat din po talaga you have to step out from your comfort zone.”
She then recounted how Pinoy Big Brother helped her become more receptive to feedback.
“Through PBB din, I learned to be receptive.
“[To] be able to like take in the critiques or criticisms that were/ given to me. And to make it into a positive, Or see it [through a positive way] or look at it [in a positive way] where I know it could help improve [me].
“Not by just changing me, not changing my personality, not changing my inner core. But to become a better person /din, [and] to become a better individual, [and] I learned to love myself more. Take care of myself more before I could give that love to somebody else.”
She then narrated how she stumbled into hosting during one of her on-screen appearances.
“The very first time na I got to host was way before sa News To Ko ‘Yan. Parang nagsasalita lang ako with my friends eh. ‘Oh kamusta kayo and how are you doing?’ I get to ask them some stuff and binibigyan ako ng flow. And then ‘yung pinaka first ko talaga na masasabing kong malaking hosting gig na nagawa ko, ‘yung pinaka-first is ‘yung Kumusta Pilipinas, Sing Pilipinas.
“That was my first–that was actually an accident that I got to be the [main] host because I was supposed to be a guest host na magsasabi lang ng ‘O guys, magbagsak lang kayo diyan.’ But then ‘yung host po–one of the main host po ay nagkasakit, so they took me as parang substitute to be main host na makakasama sa isa, the second main host.”
Salvacion joins Karina Bautista, and Aljon Mendoza in hosting ABS-CBN’s online talent competition, Bida Star Singer.
