Why You Should See It:
It’s a trip down memory lane in 2Gether: The Movie as it brings back the irresistible love story of Sarawat (Vachirawit Chivaaree) and Tine (Metawin Opas-Iamkajorn), but this time as a film. Understandably, some fans will be disappointed (a bit), especially if they hoped that the movie version would be about what happens next in Sarawat and Tine’s relationship. If you’re a Korean BL fan who is used to seeing BL films that are just stitched-together full versions of the mini-series that came before, you’ll get the sentiment. 2Gether: The Movie is just a 2Gether and Still 2Gether series, stitched together to become one film.
As most fans already know, 2Gether follows the beginning of the two boys’ love story. It began with schoolboy crush Tine pursuing campus singer Sarawat to convince him to become his boyfriend and thus discourage a loud gay guy running after him. What was supposed to be just a ‘pretend’ relationship eventually fostered to become a real one.
The second season Still 2Gether chronicles the couple’s journey as they grow in love and weather the storms in their relationship together.
But fret not, because while the film is just the combined version of the two series, it has additional scenes to excite viewers. It also allowed viewers to understand Sarawat’s point of view as most crucial scenes have complemented with his narrations. Of course, the last few frames of the movie also gave a clear glimpse of where the couple’s relationship has arrived and where it is [still] heading.
Fans will have a bittersweet feeling as this fairytale-ish boy’s love story will come to its conclusion and happy to know that the love story will prosper, even beyond their sight.
In the end, Sarawat and Tine’s magic lives on, and it’s one we can always come back to anytime we want to understand again how love is truly universal and encompassing.
