On Thursday, February 3, radio broadcaster Antonio Contreras lauded Vice President and presidential candidate Leni Robredo for her performance in the recent DZRH’s Bakit Ikaw? Presidential Job Interviews.
Contreras, along with four other panelists Gerry Baja, Deo Macalma and Angelo Palmones are critics of Robredo.
In his facebook post, he wrote, “Litaw ang kahandaan ni Leni sa interview. Talagang kitang-kita ang kanyang pinalawak na kaalaman sa maraming bagay.
“Kitang-kita din na ang kanyang diskurso ay galing sa puso. Nadama ko ito sa sagot niya sa tanong ko tungkol sa mga tiktok videos na lumalabas siyang katawa-tawa, na ito ay bilang show of appreciation niya at pagpapaunlak sa mga hiling sa kanya. Maganda ang performance ni Leni.”
However, the radio broadcaster had to admit that Robredo was trying to be on the “safe side.”
He said that the Vice President was trying to insert calamity preparedness in her every answer.
Contreras also was amazed by the presidential bet’s attention to process and consultation but he concluded that it only made her “equivocate.”
“Litaw na litaw ang pagtuon ni Leni sa proseso at konsultasyon. Sa isang banda maganda ito. Pero ito rin ang dahilan kung bakit malimit siyang mag-equivocate. Ayaw sa cancel culture, pero naiintindihan ang mga gumagawa nito; ayaw sa divorce, pero bukas para pag-usapan ito. Kaya mapapatanong ka: ano ang “executive decision niya.”
Despite his observations about Robredo, Contreras clarified that they talked wherein he explained that his criticisms were “constructive.”
“In politics, contentious disagreements occur. But on these occasions, I am a professional, a political science professor moonlighting in broadcast media. And beyond the criticisms and disagreements always lie our respect not only for each other but for the country.
“We should not allow our politics to divide us to a point that we forget our humanity,” he said in another post.
He now “doubts” Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
In a separate post, Contreras questioned the refusal of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to appear in the presidential forum organized by Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP).
He wrote, “BBM is once again not attending the KBP Presidential Forum. Is he that sure that he is already safe and that being absent will no longer make a dent [in] his candidacy?”
The radio host then took back his criticism diverting Marcos’s issue to another presidential aspirant, Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
“I have to ask. When BBM did not attend Jesica Soho’s interview, he was soundly criticized. And I am sure his absence in the KBP forum will once again be labeled as cowardice. When Leni first declined our invitation to “Bakit Ikaw?”, she was also criticized.
“But when Isko failed to accept the same invitation, parang wala lang. Walang pumansin.
“Bakit kaya?” questioned Contreras.
Robredo explained her platform in case she wins President in the upcoming national election such as preparedness in times of calamities and making the government transparent to the public.
Meanwhile, she stood firm in her decision that no reconciliation be made with the Marcoses.
