Is Vice Ganda thinking of transferring to the Manny Villar-owned TV station?
In It’s Showtime‘s February 17 episode, Vice cracked a joke in the program’s Sexy Babe segment.
During the segment, Vice and Vhong made fun of Ogie by locking him under a table outside of the studio.
Ogie then tried to call other hosts for help, but no one’s answering. While Ogie is being locked, Vice commented that no one will help him because they don’t have a signal in the studio after the Network lost its franchise.
The comment elicited laughter from the other hosts and staff.
But Vice didn’t stop as he continue with the punchline, calling on Villar and asking for job vacancies in his station.
“Wala tayong signan sa loob ng studio magmula nang mawala ang franchise wala nang signal.”
Though done in a joke, (at times jokes are half-meant) given the current situation of ABS-CBN, Vice teased of calling on billionaire Manny Villar to ask for job offers in his soon-to-be established TV network.
“Tawagan mo si Manny Villar masasagot yan… Tawagan mo sya at pag nakausap mo sya sabihin mo sabi ko, Hi… Hi, baka may opening dyan.”
Manny Villar’s Advance Media Broadcasting System (AMBS) has recently acquired the Channel 2 frequency previously held by ABS-CBN.
Following the Duterte-backed and Cayetano-led congressional rejection of the ABS-CBN franchise renewal in July 2020, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) decided to give the frequencies previously used by the Kapamilya Network to other media companies which included Villar’s AMBS.
Villar’s daughter, a Las Pinas Rep. Camille Villar is one of those to voted not to renew the ABS-CBN franchise.
It’s Showtime is currently airing on limited reach through A2Z Channel 11 on free TV, Kapamilya Channel on cable, and ABS-CBN’s digital platform Kapamilya Online Live.
