Established actress and media executive Charo Santos-Concio kept her heart, healthy by understanding what triggers negativity, she shared on February 21.
“But through the years, I’ve learned to honor my feelings. Kung nagalit ako, I accept the fact that there are triggers in life and that nagagalit ako, and anger is an emotion.
‘Kapag naiinis ako, gano’n din. If I feel anxious and worried about something, I honor it,” Santos said during the virtual media press conference for SunLife’s “Partners in Health” campaign.
As a human, she acknowledges the negative emotions and at the same time, tries to be better as a person.
“Kapag mas nakikilala mo kasi ang sarili mo, mas minamahal mo unconditionally ang sarili mo. Mas napapatawad mo ang sarili mo. You become more forgiving and more understanding, and more compassionate of yourself. Therefore, it results into showing a lot of understanding and compassion for the people around you.
“You transcend your ego, you transcend your emotions, and you become calmer and more steady in your decision-making, and you see things the way they are. You learn to accept things the way they are and let go of things that you are not in control of. Para kalmado lang ang buhay.”
She is also a carefree kind of person, but with “moderation.”
“You just have to be mindful na hindi mo sinasagad ang sarili mo. Whether pagkain ‘yan, whether mental stress ‘yan, whether physical stress ‘yan, you should also find time to nurture your spiritual growth. Kasama ‘yan eh. It comes as a hollistic package.
“But yes, once in a while, you indulge in the little pleasures of life. Otherwise, it’s gonna be boring!”
As an ambassadress for SunLife, Santos-Concio advised the young generation to “live within your means.”
“You can dream big but as you’re building your life, and you’re building a career, just always stay within your means, live within your means.”
Again, she emphasized “moderation” to secure a better future.
“Don’t be overwhelmed by what the others have. I mean, one day, when you’re in the position to afford the luxuries in life, go ahead, reward yourself. But always stay in a phase of moderation. Let’s not allow material stuff to define our being or who we are.”
Other than her, Piolo Pascual and Matteo Guidicelli were also introduced as SunLife’s ambassadors for promoting health awareness amid the ongoing pandemic.
