Abuse in a relationship is one of the issues being tackled in the upcoming Vivamax movie Silip sa Apoy. Some of its cast on Wednesday, January 19, have witnessed it in their very own home.
The movie’s star, Angeli Khang, shared that her father beat her mother and younger brother whenever he returned overseas.
“When I was young, sa dad ko naman… talagang sabihin na nating martyr sa martyr. Whenever he comes home galing sa ibang bansa, iinom siya agad and he’ll take his anger on my mom and my brother,” she shared during the film’s virtual media conference.
Luckily, her dad did not lift a finger towards her as she was his favorite.
“Which is kinda thankful na bata pa ako noon and I didn’t experience those things.”
Jela Cuenca also had her fair share of violence in her family. The sexy actress revealed that her parents used to have aggressive fights. She, however, was thankful that they finally went their own separate ways.
“In real life, nakapag-silip na rin ako and that was my mom and dad. Sobrang lungkot lang kasi ang nakita ko is hindi kaaya-aya. Kasi as in pisikalan, sakitan. Kaya thankful na rin ako na naghiwalay sila.”
Sid Lucero’s mother also received some form of abuse from the late Mark Gil, the actor’s father.
“Yeah, I was very young. My dad wasn’t always a perfect person. I was maybe four or five and he would come home not okay. And there were times when my own mother was taking the brunt of his anger and depression,” the award-winning actor said.
He briefly described it, noting, “Basta! My dad was beating my mom, and then I made silip and look inside.”
Silip sa Apoy is a work of notable writer Ricky Lee and is under the direction of Mac Alejandre. It also includes rising star Paolo Gumabao.
It tells the story of a battered housewife who plays with fire after falling in love with her neighbor.
