Ultimate heartthrob Piolo Pascual, on Monday, February 21, shared his secret to having a healthy heart—by loving himself.
In the virtual launch for SunLife’s “Partner in Health” campaign, the actor stressed, “Top of mind is [to] be nice to yourself, you know. It’s not all about being romantic I guess but treating yourself, you know, good stuff. And being nice to the people around you, I mean that’s how you share love, and how you take care of yourself.”
In order to make himself feel good, he turns negative thoughts into positive ones. However, having a healthy heart does not mean it would exclude him from anxiety attacks due to the pandemic.
“Because it’s hard to move around, it’s hard to get to places. Parang you’re stuck. So only because of that.
“Also for the health of my family, especially my mom. So those things, those worries, and the people around you getting sick, and it’s hard to deal with that, especially they’re your loved ones,” he explained.
The actor also had a realization going into the third year of the pandemic.
“I guess I realized that it’s important to pray more, to thank more, and to worry less. Because you’re not doing yourself any favors. After you deal with that, you know, you released it, and not dwell on it—because it’s not good to dwell on the negative stuff. So you just get it off your chest and be better by you know, leaving it all up to God.”
Meanwhile, Pascual is not all about eating healthy. He admitted he sometimes “let go” of himself as a reward for his hard work.
“Once in a while you’ve gotta indulge. As long as you’re able to clock in, work out hours. It’s nice to feel that you’re rewarding yourself once in a while especially during the pandemic when you don’t have to look a certain way,” reasoned the actor.
As one of the new ambassadors of SunLife in promoting health awareness during the pandemic. In terms of investment and savings, Pascual advised being “practical.”
The actor reasoned out that it is best to prioritize necessity over luxury.
“Ten, twenty years down the road and you’re already enjoying your privileges, your rewards. Because you started early. So it’s all about being practical and not just really spending on things that won’t really last.”
Matteo Guidicelli and actress Charo Santos-Concio were also introduced as ambassadors of SunLife to help promote the importance of investing in health.
