The six-year primetime program never held the number one spot since the ABS-CBN shutdown until February 1 came and made it happen.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano emerged as the most-watched primetime series in the country, on Tuesday, February 1, after posting an 11.8 rating, according to AGB Nielsen National Urban Television Measurement (NUTAM).
This marked the first time the longest-running Kapamilya action-drama series won its time slot, and ruled both daytime and night-time programming, nearly two years after ABS-CBN went off the air, in May 2020. FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano pulled off a 0.5% lead over GMA Network’s I Left My Heart in Sorsogon, whose combined NUTAM rating, was recorded at 11.3%, on the same night.
Other ABS-CBN programs are also doing well on the chart, with all the media giant’s primetime shows making it to the Top 20 most-watched shows in the country. The most remarkable of these shows is The Broken Marriage Vow, which set its highest NUTAM rating to date, at 8.0%, trimming its rival Kapuso show’s lead to just 0.3%. Already in its finale week, I Can See You: AlterNate may further struggle to keep its lead in the coming days, as The Broken Marriage Vow seems to have just begun making waves online and on television.
Similarly, The Viral Scandal is strong with 4.6%, although it still has some catching up to do to defeat Mano Po Legacy‘s 5.9%. Now on its finale week, La Vida Lena is equally impressive as it is tied with GMA network’s My Husband in Law’s 3.9% in rating.
It is worth noting that ABS-CBN, especially FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano can defeat its Kapuso counterparts, despite its still limited free TV presence. ABS-CBN’s primetime programs, TV Patrol, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, The Broken Marriage Vow, Viral Scandal, and La Vida Lena are currently aired by two free TV stations, A2Z Channel 11 and TV5. These programs are also simulcast on pay-TV channels, Kapamilya Channel, and Jeepney TV, while they are also streamed online via Kapamilya Online Live (YouTube and Facebook) and iWantTFC.
